Beautiful Event!
National Night out was a wonderful time, my fellow OLT team mates and I supported Lincoln Housing for this event as they supported us at OLT. My team mates, Lisa Gilray & April Loughridge joined me in greeting and meeting tons of NAS Lemoore families, spouses and applicants both past and present. Sampled some fantastic snacks and ice cream too. It was a great night! Thank you Lincoln Housing Team, your awesome.
Fresno Magazine Monthly Launch Party was a great chance to see the Fresno Magazine Staff and Team do their magic and meet their parters and supporters as well. The event was held at Pangea Restaurant located at the Fig Garden Village in Fresno.
All I can say is exquisite! Big Hug to Maribel Mendoza and Melanie Warner, we had a great time.
We were thrilled to attend the United Way's Community Appreciation Breakfast this past month, which celebrated and recognized the dedicated business leaders and employees in our community who support the work of local non-profit agencies in Kings County. Special Honors were given to AT&T Kings/Tulare Combined Federal Campaign, CA State Employees Charitable Campaign, JC Penney Company Inc., Save Mart, Southern California Edison, UPS, Union Bank of CA, Valero Energy Corporation and Wal-Mart Super Center. Honors were followed by the kick off of the “Day of Caring Event” which volunteers from the community and local businesses give their time and services by volunteering to work on one time service projects for non profit agencies in the community. It was wonderful to see so many of our guys from NAS Lemoore there volunteering as well as see our good friends from United Way, Nannette Villarreal and President John Bloyd.

This Month's Tasty Recipe
Crabmeat Ravigote
Ingredients
Dressing:
1/2 C. sherry vinegar
2 Tbs. chipotle mustard, Dijon or a coarse country-style mustard
1 1/2 C. high quality olive oil
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/8 tsp. freshly ground white pepper
Ravigote:
1 C. real mayonnaise
3 Tbs. reserved dressing
3 green onions, finely chopped, tops only
1 tsp. small capers, rinsed and drained
1/2 tsp. chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 lb. lump crabmeat
4 small heads baby bib lettuce
2 tomatoes, cut into eighths
Directions
To make the dressing, in a small bowl, combine the vinegar and mustard. Whip until well blended. While continuing to whisk, slowly drizzle in a couple of tablespoons of the olive oil – whip until an emulsion begins to form. Continuing to whisk, slowly add the remainder of the olive until the emulsion is complete. (NOTE: This can also be done in a food processor. The key is to add a limited amount of oil while the emulsion sets up and to add the remaining oil very slowly.) Whisk in the salt and pepper. Reserve 3 Tbs. of the dressing and chill the remainder.
To make the ravigote, in a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, reserved dressing, green onions, capers and parsley. Stir to incorporate well. Gently fold in the lumps of crabmeat until well distributed. Chill for 30 minutes to 1 hour. When you begin to chill the ravigote, also plate four salad bowls or plates into the refrigerator. See below for serving recommendations.
To serve, cut the bottom off of the lettuce head and stand it up on the plate or bowl. Spread the leaves and create an opening. Scoop the ravigote into the lettuce head. Place four tomato pieces around each lettuce head. Dress with additional dressing, if desired. Serve immediately. (This dish can be prepared a couple of hours in advance).

| A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked. "Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you - but first, let me do this."
He proceeded to crumple the 20 dollar note up. He then asked. "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "what if I do this?" He dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless; but no matter what happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.
Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you. The worth of our lives comes, not in what we do or who we know, but by ...WHO WE ARE.
You are special - don't ever forget it." | |
